NIMB BOARD POSITIONS

POSITION JOB DESCRIPTION
President President shall preside over all NIMB meetings and serve as an ex-officio member of all committees. The president shall lead NIMB in performing its duties and responsibilities. Help the band director with the yearly calendar.
Vice President Attend monthly Board meetings, support the President in their year-long duties. Step in on behalf of the President in their absence.
Secretary Attend monthly meetings and keep a correct, full and impartial record of the proceedings of all meetings (minutes).
Treasurer Shall be the custodian of the financial records, accounts and monies of NIMB. Shall keep an account of all dues, receipts and expenditures. Prepare a monthly report to be read at the NIMB meeting. Help with preparing the yearly budget.
Concert Band Parent Representative (9th Gr Classical Band) Attend monthly Board meetings (in the month prior to events at a minimum), communicate with parents of your individual ensemble, help fill event volunteer roles. Concert Band attends 2 concerts in the Little Theater in the Fall and Winter; CMEA trip and Northgate Area Concert in the Gym in the Spring, and the Lesher Center in May.
Symphonic Winds Parent Representative (10th-12th Gr Classical Band) Attend monthly Board meetings (in the month prior to events at a minimum), communicate with parents of your individual ensemble, help fill event volunteer roles. Symphonic Winds attends 2 concerts in the Little Theater in the Fall and Winter; CMEA trip and Northgate Area Concert in the Gym in the Spring, and the Lesher Center in May.
Orchestra Parent Representative (9th-12th Gr Orchestra) Attend monthly Board meetings (in the month prior to events at a minimum), communicate with parents of your individual ensemble, help fill event volunteer roles. Orchestra attends 2 concerts in the Little Theater in the Fall and Winter, travel to 3 festivals, field trip, Northgate Area Strings Concert and Lesher Center in May.
Jazz Band I Parent Representative Attend monthly Board meetings (in the month prior to events at a minimum), communicate with parents of your individual ensemble, help fill event volunteer roles, coordinate chaperone lists + help book overnight trip hotels. Jazz Bands attend 2 concerts in the Little Theater in the Fall and Winter; travel to about 7 Jazz festivals between November and April, and the Yoshi's Jazz Club in May.

OBOTR Chair/Co-Chair OBOTR - Orchestra + Band on the Run (Typically late February) is our largest fundraiser of the year, and it is a blast! This is an adult dinner and silent auction plus a live auction of our very own student-made specialty desserts, as well as student-led live music event. We need a team of two parents to keep this successful event to continue to fund our program and keep the party going!
Marching Band Parent Coordinators Coming Soon! We are in the process of reworking our Marching Band Coordinator position and adding some fun new parent support roles. Stay tuned! Additional support team members, including Uniform Coordinator, Football Game Coordinator, Marching Band Camp Coordinator fall under this role.
Concert Wear Coordinator Instruct new students + families on concert wear requirements, coordinate concert wear orders + fittings (end of Summer/beginning of Fall only). Maintain stock of NIMB t-shirts + hoodies + car stickers and re-order as necessary; distribute for limited-time basis to Band Room, primarily at the beginning of the school year.
NIMB Notes Newsletter Attend monthly Board meetings, write weekly newsletter with assistance of the President.
Website Coordinator principal contact for the NIMBconnect.org website, help with formatting sections of the website as needed, updating information and keeping calendar updated. One is expected to frequently add posts for any specific news items, upcoming events - (i.e., concerts, festivals), along with Dine N Donate options and other goings-on in the instrumental music department. Helpful to attend board meetings once a month to stay current. Work with President of the board to help relay information.
Social Media Coordinator Posting to Facebook page and Facebook group and Instagram (and coordinate posts from other NIMB/BOSS contributors) upcoming events and record of events that just happened. Work with BOSS graphic designers to make announcements for concerts and events. Posting to Nextdoor for fundraisers. Using the group’s Canva app to make announcements more eye-catching.
Concert Programs Design Coordinate with band director and MDUSD printing group to create programs for the various concerts. Fall/winter programs are black and white, 4 page document. Spring program is 20+ pages that includes ads (provided by another volunteer), senior bios, and additional information about marching band and jazz band. Spring program has a color cover. Program design also includes found artwork and clipart.
Concert Reception Coordinator Coordinate with NIMB BoosterHub organizer regarding volunteer sign-ups for set-up, clean up refreshments and manage tables during concerts. Send reminders to families for donations for the refreshment table. This job is for the 4 concert dates that take place in the Fall and Winter.
Fall/Winter Fundraiser Coordinator See's Fundraising, which involves taking order requests from participants using pre-sell forms, before you place your order with See's. There's no up front payment—you only order the items you have already "sold." Orders will be delivered to your house and you distribute accordingly.
Student Representative 1 (BOSS) BOSS President. Attend monthly NIMB Board meetings prepared with a monthly report to be read at the meeting, and take feedback from the NIMB Board back to BOSS membership.
Student Representative 2 (BOSS) BOSS Co-President or Vice President. Attend monthly NIMB Board meetings prepared with a monthly report to be read at the meeting, and take feedback from the NIMB Board back to BOSS membership.
Transportation Coordinator Secure, price and coordinate the best mode of transportation for all off site band events. On trips over 15 hours secure a hotel for the bus driver.

Marchathon Fundraiser Chair + Co-Chair Over the summer, the March-a-thon Coordinator initiates city use permits for the streets on the parade route, and coordinates with WCPD for volunteer escorts. They work with the treasurer to provide updated insurance certificates to the city. and applies for MDUSD facility use permits (classroom, bathrooms, parking lot). During band camp and first weeks of school, helps evangelize the importance of NIMB fundraising and getting the first fundraiser started on solid footing. Coordinates student and parent volunteers for: flyer distribution and collections in the neighborhood, and day-of-event responsibilities. Works with the marching band coordinators and the music director to set and communicate parade timings and any special stops along the way to the community. Serves as a manager and troubleshooter on the day of the event.
Restaurant Fundraisers - Dine N Donate Plan "dine to donate" events each month at local restaurants. Involves working with restaurant management to schedule events, creating flyers and working with NIMB website and social media coordinators to promote events and following up with restaurant and NIMB treasurer until donation is received.

Yoshi's Concert Coordinator Every spring our Jazz Band 1 and 2 perform at the famed Yoshi's Jazz Club in Jack London Square in Oakland. The Coordinator will lead the chaperones, stage setup, strike team, green room and equipment drivers on the day of the concert.
Lesher Concert Coordinator Every spring our Concert Band, Symphonic Winds and Orchestra perform at Lesher Center of the Arts. The Coordinator will Lead the chaperones, stage setup, strike team, green room and equipment drivers on the day of the concert.
Spaghetti Feed Coordinator Fall fundraiser that involves finding a venue for the event. Coordinating teams for the event ie. decorating team, cooking team, cleaning team, serving team, set-up team… Purchasing and preparing food for the evening.
